Purpose
The greatest orator, save one, of antiquity, has left it on record that he always studied his adversary’s case with as great, if not still greater, intensity than even his own. What Cicero practiced as the means of forensic success requires to be imitated by all who study any subject in order to arrive at the truth. He who knows only his own side of the case knows little of that. His reasons may be good, and no one may have been able to refute them. But if he is equally unable to refute the reasons on the opposite side, if he does not so much as know what they are, he has no ground for preferring either opinion. The rational position for him would be suspension of judgment. - John Stuart Mill

Dear Ms.,
ReplyDeleteThank you dearly for the creation of this blog. The title and subtitle are inspiring. I can not wait to engage in the development of our relationship through this communication. As posted under "Purpose", John Stuart Mill encourages us to carefully examine all aspects of all positions to make solid decisions that will shape the way we view the world.
I hereby vow to fully commit to practicing the open minded thinking and self reflection necessary to arrive at reasonable conclusions on provocative and worldly discussions.
We have the power within ourselves to uncover the truth. It lies in each and every one of us and is waiting to be revealed. I posses the desire to discover this truth which I believe is the first and most crucial step in revealing it. But, initial desire is easy to maintain for a brief moment. The constant willingness and dedication to remind yourself of this desire is the job. With this job in mind, and a work ethic directed at unvailing the truth, one can be content with oneself in knowing that he or she is doing everything in his or her power to reach ones goal.
Through this blog, we will peel layer by layer, the skin that so deeply covers this truth, and in the process get to know one another on the deepest of levels.
Ms., I desire to know every idea and feeling in your mind and soul. Please, I ask you to show me your true self, and in return I promise to allow you to get to know every part of me. And with this knowledge of one another we will enable ourselves to grow closer together each and every day.
Yours Truely,
Mr.
